The Valorant Championship 2022 is in full swing as we head towards the group deciders. So far the group stage has been shocking, to say the least. Almost every possible group has had some form of upset, adding a layer of uncertainty ahead of the Playoffs. With almost no match looking like a given, we’ve prepared our choice of picks for the VALORANT Champions 2022 Decider Matches.
The biggest surprise of the event so far has definitely been the LATAM Stage 2 champions Leviatán, who sit comfortably sit atop Group A. With Edward Gaming out of the tournament, we’ve got European hopefuls Team Liquid facing off against Paper Rex for the final Playoff spot.
Group B had fewer thrills with tournament favorites Optic Gaming qualifying for the next round. BOOM Esports managed to put up a good fight, but losses to the Green Wall and ZETA Division have put an end to their run. In Group B’s decider, we’ll see Brazilian Champions LOUD go up against ZETA.
Another group that has had an interesting turn of events is Group C. Surprisingly, it’s XSET who managed to end up on top, as last season’s champions FunPlus Phoenix will have to earn their Playoff spot in their decider against KRÜ Esports.
Finishing off the day, we’ve got a gold old NA vs. EU show-off featuring 100 Thieves and Fnatic. Both teams faced off in the group’s opening matches, with 100 Thieves coming out on top. Surprisingly it’s the Korean side of DRX that tops Group D, while FURIA Esports sit at the bottom.
With a total of four matches to be played over the course of the next two days, expect some top-tier Valorant as we slowly head into the Valorant Champions 2022 Playoffs.
VALORANT Champions 2022 Deciders Predictions
Group A Decider: Team Liquid vs. Paper Rex
Both teams were seen as strong contenders for the title, with Paper Rex being a top-three favorite in many offerings. With Leviatán stellar performance, heading forward we’ll have to say goodbye to one of these.
Last year’s Championship runner-up Paper Rex has definitely performed below expectation at the event. While Liquid is far from being a better spot, their pocket starts and tenacity have been electrifying so far. Paper Rex’s shortcomings come from their own calls and starts, and frankly Liquid has so far shown us a bit more in that department.
Despite the odds slightly favoring Paper Rex, Liquid has looked like the better-organized team. Expect a hard series, with Liquid ultimately coming out on top.
Pick: Team Liquid
Group B Decider: LOUD vs. ZETA DIVISION
Group B’s decider is looking a bit more straightforward in comparison to the previous one. While ZETA is no pushover, LOUD is definitely the better team in almost every aspect.
Both teams have played in the opening matches, with LOUD coming out on top in a convincing fashion.
The Valorant betting odds heavily favor LOUD to come out on top, a fact that we wholeheartedly agree with. In our prediction, we’ll take it a step further and predict that LOUD will have another clean sweep over ZETA.
Prediction: Loud | To Win 2:0 |
Group C Decider: FunPlus Phoenix vs. KRÜ Esports
The returning Champions are in a tough spot in Group C, as they will be fighting for their tournament lives against the awkward KRÜ Esports. Despite FPX’s loss against XSET coming as a surprise, they did manage to best KRÜ Esports during the openers.
While they did manage to 2:0 the Chileans, the series was a lot closer than it seems. Overall, FPX is the better team, but with so much at stake, this will by no means be a walk in the park.
Looking at their first series, we do expect this series to be even more even than the first one. While FPX should manage to come out on top, we’re tipping that KRÜ Esports will manage to snag a map over the defending champions.
Prediction: Total Maps | Over 2.5 |
Group D Decider: 100 Thieves vs. Fnatic
If there’s one series that is bound to attract the eyes of the public, it’s whenever NA faces off against EU. Both teams are fan favorites and are considered to be one of the better teams in the tournament. 100 Thieves did have a chance to top the group, but in typical 100T fashion managed to completely underperform against DRX.
This series is yet another that features a repeat of the opening matches. In their first outing, 100T managed to pull off the victory after three maps played.
The odds are as dead even as they can get. Looking at the team’s current form, past outings, and overall gameplay, we expect this series to go roughly the same route as the first one.
Prediction: Total Maps | Over 2.5 |
