American organization Soniqs has announced it has parted ways with its entire Dota 2 team. The rosters release comes after a fairly disappointing performance at The International 2022. Although the team had high expectations heading into the event, they ultimately ended their TI journey in the Group Stage. Soniqs finished second to last and would go on to lose their tiebreaker against BOOM Esports.
The organization entered the Dota 2 scene in August this year after picking up the roster of Quincy Crew. While signings like this are generally frowned upon by the audience, it did mean that Quin&Co would finally be getting backing from a reputable organization. Quincy Crew was for a better part of the last two years viewed as one of the strongest teams hailing from the North American region. Under Soniqs, the team would go on to win The International 2022 North American Qualifiers, earning themselves a spot directly in the Groups.
The International 2022 would ultimately not go to the expectations of Sonics. After a mediocre start, the NA squad would end up at the end of the table with the same amount of points as BetBoom Team and BOOM Esports. Soniqs’ TI journey would be cut short following the loss against BOOM in the inaugural Group A tiebreaker.
The decision does not come as quite of a shock, seeing as organizations have picked up Dota 2 teams in the past in a similar manner. Just a couple of days ago it was announced that the team’s Brazilian offlaner Rodrigo “LESLÃO” Santos had already parted ways with the team. As it currently stands, it remains unknown if the rest of the team will be sticking together heading into the 2023 DPC Season.
