Shopify Rebellion has announced the acquisition of Luminosity Gaming’s Valorant roster. The move comes almost a month after Luminosity benched its roster and announced that the organization would be exiting the professional Valorant scene for the foreseeable future. Rebellion has already established a presence in the NA Valorant scene, housing one of the top female teams in the region. The addition of LG’s former roster will give them an even bigger foothold in the regional scene, as Shopify Rebellion is evidently looking toward building its name and reputation through the Valorant scene.
The former Luminosity roster has been a mainstay in the NA VCT since its inauguration. After a promising start last year, the team’s form quickly plummeted. After missing out on VCT Stage 2 due to an early exit in both Open Qualifiers, and a largely uninspired finish to the competitive year, Luminosity revamped its roster heading into 2022.
The revamped roster did solidify LG’s status as a middle-of-the-pack team but was still outdone by the region’s heavy hitters.
Despite establishing themselves as a mainstay in the ever-budding Valorant scene, Luminosity Gaming decided to part ways with the roster on June 2nd, leaving the scene entirely.
The roster’s newest home, Shopify Rebells is a young organization on the rise. Apart from its all-female Valorant roster, the Rebellion has already established a presence in Starcraft II, Rocket League, and Halo. Shopify has so far seen the biggest success in competitive Starcraft, as the organization’s team houses household names like Byun “ByuN” Hyun-woo and Sasha “Scarlett” Hostyn.
With its latest acquisition, Shopify Rebellion is definitely going to get an even bigger spotlight on them than ever before. With a roster absolutely packed with talent, the organization’s stock is almost bound to grow bigger than ever before.
