Nigma Galaxy SEA has made a last-minute addition just before the start of the SEA TI Qualifiers. The team announced that Malaysian veteran and Dota 2 personality Chan “WinteR” Litt Binn has taken over the head coaching duties. WinteR will be taking over the head coaching position from Nicholas “xFreedom” Kelvin Ileto Lim will stay with the team, albeit as an analyst.
Nigma Galaxy’s SEA team is in a tough spot heading into the International 2022: Southeast Asia Qualifier. With only four players on the active roster and a poor streak of form in their last couple of outings, they are definitely not among the favorites judging by the Dota 2 betting odds. To make things worse, they failed to make it out of the ESL One Malaysia Open Qualifiers on two separate occasions, playing with two stand-ins.
The team did manage to somewhat stabilize their roster ahead of the TI 2022 SEA Qualifiers. Heading into the TI Qualifiers, Nigma Galaxy re-signed Muhammad “inYourdreaM” Rizky with whom they parted ways earlier in July this year.
Can WinteR’s Experience Help Nigma Galaxy SEA Overcome Their Shortcomings?
WinteR’s addition could give them some stability heading into the tournament. The Malaysian is one of the most beloved members of the professional scene and has coached the likes of Alliance, Mineski, Team Faceless, and BOOM Esports in the past. But judging on the team’s last couple of forays, it’s not looking good for Nigma Galaxy SEA. The team finished the last DPC Tour second-to-last, with only one victory to its name.

Nigma Galaxy SEA will begin their TI 2022 journey in just a couple of hours against Polaris Esports, the only team that finished below them in the last DPC tour. Although they are not the favorites heading into the series, a victory against Polaris seems very doable. The question arises, if they can go through Polaris, do they have the quality to take on SEA’s finest?
