IEM Rio Major 2022 Stage Predictions
Outsiders vs. Heroic
In an unexpected turn of events, we’ve got Outsiders and Heroic as the IEM Rio Major 2022 Grand Finalists. Outsiders went through hell and back in their series against MOUZ, while Heroic shattered the hopes of the home crowd after eliminating FURIA. The series is in any case a showdown between the teams IGL’s – Outsiders’ Jame and Heroic’s Cadian. Both players had some stellar performances, both cerebrally and frag-wise. It should be noted that Heroic is coming into the series as the slight favorite.
Both teams are quite familiar with each other, having faced off during the tournament’s Legends Stage. When looking at the map preferences, Heroic will most likely go for their Dust 2 ban. Outsiders on the other hand should go for their patented Nuke ban. When it comes to the actual map picks, Outsiders should be looking towards Overpass, while Heroic could be looking at Anicent. The kicker map is most likely going to be Mirage or Inferno.
All things considered; we are giving Outsiders the slight edge in this matchup. Jame has been playing in the form of his life, and his calls have been on point. Expect a hard-fought battle, with Outsiders coming out on top.
Heroic vs. FURIA
FURIA seems to be unstoppable at the Rio Major and simply put, all betting predictions are pointing towards them making it to the Grand Finals. The Brazilian team has looked neigh unstoppable so far at the event, beating Na’Vi while feeding off one of the craziest crowds in the history of esports. The last obstacle on their road to the Grand Finals is the Danish side of Heroic. While Heroic is definitely not a team that should be counted out, the general consensus is that the odds are stacked against them. FURIA is heading into the matchup as the slight favorite. Considering the atmosphere, Heroic is definitely going to be fighting an uphill battle.
While neither team has faced off against the other this season, the possible map bans & picks will give us a lot of insight into how this series could go. Starting off, both teams like to insta ban Dust2. Depending on the picking order, FURIA’s Anicent or Heroic’s Inferno could be up on the chopping block. Heading forward, FURIA is most likely going to pick Vertigo, while Heroic is most likely going to go for Nuke. Depending on the inaugural picks, we will most likely end up seeing Overpass or Mirage as the kicker.
Taking into account that the entire FURIA roster is playing in the form of their lives, and their familiarity with Heroic’s picks, the Danish team’s situation is looking dire. While we are convinced in FURIA’s victory, we’ll take it up a notch and predict that they’ll clean-sweep Heroic.
Prediction: FURIA | To Win 2:0 |
MOUZ vs. Outsiders
In the first Semi-Finals of the Rio Major, we’ve got two teams who have had a history of facing each other this season. Few believed MOUZ and Outsiders would be a semifinal matchup. Even less thought that one of them would be making it to the Grand Finals. It’s the Russian side of Outsiders who are entering this series as the favorites, most notably on the back of some stellar performances by AWPer and IGL Jame. MOUZ will try to recreate some of their magic from yesterday that sent the tournament favorites Cloud 9 home packing.
Looking at the map preferences, it’s obvious that Dust2 and Nuke are off the table. Both teams heavily favor Inferno, so that map pick will depend on which team ends up picking it first. MOUZ could decide for either Anicent or Mirage, most likely leaving Overpass as the kicker.
Although the odds are stacked against them, MOUZ has shown they’ve earned their spot at the very top of the CS:GO rankings. The team’s IGL Dexter has been playing in the form of his life, and we strongly feel like MOUZ will pull the upset over Outsiders.
Natus Vincere vs. FURIA
Although Na’Vi is heading into the matchup as the betting favorite, the atmosphere at the Jeunesse Arena will be all but friendly toward them. FURIA is playing on home turf, and the crowd in Rio has been astonishing. And from what we’ve seen so far, FURIA is able to prosper off of that atmosphere. Looking at their past form, both teams have made it to the Champions stage for good reason. But it’s FURIA who has waltzed through the Legends stage. Na’Vi on the other hand faced elimination for two days in a row, playing with their backs against the wall.
Looking at the map preferences, Na’Vi will most likely ban FURIA’s preferred Vertigo, while the Brazilians will most likely ban Dust2. FURIA’s first pick will most likely be Nuke, while Na’Vi is probably going for the Mirage pick. Inferno or Overpass are most likely to be left over.
Considering Na’Vi’s form, and the quite literal home-court advantage, we’re looking at this series as a toss-up. There is definitely some good value in betting on FURIA, seeing as you will be able to almost triple your initial wager.
Heroic vs. Team Spirit
Closing out the Rio Major Quarterfinals, Team Spirit has a tall task ahead of them in the form of perennial favorites Heroic. Neither team has a designated superstar leading them into the Champions stage. Most of their victories are the result of a team effort. Looking at the betting odds, it’s Heroic who is entering the series as the favorite.
Taking previous map preference into account, Inferno and Dust 2 are the most likely to be banned first. Both teams have favored these maps in one form or another. Because both teams prefer Nuke, there is a good chance that means that we could see Heroic picking Anicent and Spirit taking Vertigo.
Taking into account the stakes, both teams are certainly going to bring their A-game. We see this series going full length.
